NON REGISTERED EVALUATION VERSION.
----------------------------------
Until this program is registered there are certain areas that will not
be accessible. In the case of CONINS only two features are crippled:
The program will not utilize any TEMP path specification specified
in the configuration file.
This program will only operate on TEN archives in each run until
registered.
The program will also display UNREGISTERED EVALUATION in the
registration space on the main screen. registration has its'
advantages ......

INTRODUCTION.
-------------
CONINS is a tool for both users and Sysops alike that aids insertion
of FILE_ID.DIZ descriptions into specified archives, from a
pre-defined BBS listing or text file description file. Currently the
program will only add into .ZIP archives, but future plans include a
version that will insert into .ARJ archives as well. The program
features:
- Twenty line FILE_ID.DIZ.
- Fast operation.
- Internal ZIP routines.
- Handles any size text list quickly.
- Easy local registration.
- Command line driven.
- Complete LOG File written.
- Configurable description column.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.
---------------------
The program requires the following:
384 KB RAM
PKZIP.EXE & PKUNZIP.EXE v 1.1, 1.93A, 2.04G
INSTALLATION.
-------------
The self extracting CONINS archive contains the following files :
CONINS .COM - The CONINS executable file.
CONINS .CFG - Sample configuration file.
CONINS .DOC - The CONINS documentation.
CONINS .HST - CONINS Version history file
README .1ST - New Features not included in this document.
REGISTER.FRM - Concept Systems Software registration form.
PRODUCTS.CON - Concept Systems Software catalogue.
FILE_ID .DIZ - Descrioption file.
Note that the archive should display -AV when extracting the files, if
not the archive has been tampered with. The latest version of CONINS
can be downloaded from my bulletin board -
The Concept BBS
Phone : (011) 440-6246
Speed : 2400 - 38400
Hours : 24 hours.
All the Concept Systems software is available in the Concept Soft
Conference - Conference 10.
Installation is easy - if you have a utility directory you may use
this directory otherwise create a directory for CONINS and unzip the
archive into whichever directory you want.
Placing the executable file into the DOS PATH will make CONINS easier
to use.
The next thing to do is create or modify the CONINS.CFG file to suit
your system. Please note that the configuration file name cannot be
changed under any circumstances. Also please note that the config
need not be in the same directory as the executable, but when
executing CONINS the configuration file must be on the same drive as
CONINS or the program will not work.
The configuration file consists of six lines and ONLY THE FIRST SEVEN
LINES of this file are read by the program.
Line 1 :- Registration Name
---------------------------
If you have registered CONINS the name that you completed on the
registration form should be inserted onto this line - EXACTLY as you
entered it on the form.
If not registered enter your name on this line or leave the line
blank.
Line 2 :- Registration Number
-----------------------------
After registering CONINS you will receive a personalized registration
number - enter this number on this line. If you haven't registered
either leave the line blank or enter 0.
Line 3 :- PKZIP.EXE Path
------------------------
Enter the path to PKZIP.EXE on this line - if left blank the program
will not work. CONINS will verify that PKZIP exists at this location
so please enter the correct path.
eg : C:\ZIP
C:\ZIP\
Line 4 :- PKZIP.EXE Version
---------------------------
Due to the fact that PKZIP v 1.1 behaves a little differently to the
newer version 2.x pf PKZIP this line distinguishes which version you
are currently using. If blank CONINS will default to version handling
and if you are using PKZIP v 1.1 the screens WILL BE OVERWRITTEN.
For PKZIP v 1.1 enter a 1
PKZIP v 2.x enter a 2
Line 5 :- TEMP Path.
--------------------
If you have a RAM drive or fast TEMP drive CONINS will utilize this
drive for searches - enter the path to this drive. If left blank the
program will use the DOS default defined in the PC's environment.
(Registered version only)
eg D:\
E:\TEMP\
Line 6 :- Log File Path.
------------------------
Enter the path where you want CONINS to maintain your LOG FILE. If
left blank the log file feature will be disabled.
eg : C:\LOG
C:\LOG\
Line 7 :- Log File Type.
------------------------
You have a choice of two type of LOG entries:
APPEND - append last action to end of existing log file
OVER - overwrite the last log with current session info
Line 8 :- Description Column Start.
-----------------------------------
This item configures the column where CONINS will start looking for the
description, from which to build the DIZ. An example follows:
PCBoard Format:
1 2 3 4 5 6
1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890
TEST.ZIP xxxxxxxx xxxxx | This is where the description starts
│

of the description.
Column 34.
USING CONINS.
-------------
Using the program is simple:
1. Change to the directory where your archives are located.
2. On the command line type:
CONINS [Drive:\Path\Name to text file containing descriptions.]
eg CONINS C:\LIST\PCBLIST.TXT
Press enter and off you go - it's that simple. When complete you
may review the log file for insertions etc and which files in the
directory do not have FILE_ID.DIZ descriptions as yet.
Please note as I mentioned earlier ensure that the CONINS.CFG file on
the same drive that CONINS is executed from or the program will not
work and will report an error.
CONINS v 1.02 is designed primarily to read PCBoard format file
listings ie - the description line starts at COLUMN 34 of the list.
If there are requirements for other types of listings to be supported
by CONINS I would be pleased to include them in the program design -
contact me and let me know - I'll make a plan ....
SUPPORT.
--------
Should you wish to comments or make recommendations, Please leave a
message on the above mentioned board, I will answer any mail left on
the board - and will certainly entertain an new ideas for the program
should there be any. Mail should be address to either SYSOP or PAUL
GIRAUD when left on the BBS.
A plea to all users - please read the DOCS before using CONINS I have
been inundated with calls from users that say that CONINS doesn't work
and only to find that when following th correct installation
procedures the program works fine.
